To start my front cover, I firstly began with the image. This included taking the right shot, editing and desaturating the image to give a MOJO magazine vibe, and placing the image in a sensible position on the page. i would later come back to remove the reflection in the sun glasses through darkening and smudging the lenses.

Once this was done, i placed a background which would not distract the audience, and follows the same tone and hue as my picture so it does not contrast the main image. I achieved this through adding a layer if grain and then placing a slightly transparent gradient layer ranging from a dark grey colour to white.

The next thing i focussed on was creating and placing my masthead. Similarly to other magazines such as MOJO and Rock Sound, I placed the masthead near to the top centre of my cover page, and behind my main image.

Page designs such as barcodes were placed on their relevant place so that it fits a similar page layout as well renowned brands such as Rock Sound with the barcode in the bottom right corner. I designated another corner to more page designs such as a FREE CD box like MOJO, and a news circle.

The final thing I did was to focus on the page layout and how i was to place my cover lines and headlines around my main image without overlaying it too much, while keeping in mind to leave a border for the edge of the front cover.

I had to take into consideration page layout and how page furniture and text were kept in line with each other. On top of this I spent time on varying out the typography so that I could attract the audience to specific areas. I achieved this through changing the size of the font and colour.
