The genre of alternative and nirvana helped popularize skinny jeans and flannel shirts in the 90's. Baggy tops and overcoats also came into fashion in the alternative rock world, where baggy jumpers and overcoats were seen to be worn more and more.
The alternate style which is often reflected by bands and audience is an influenced 90's grunge look. However other alternate fashions sported by bands include a near hipster look with buttoned up shirts and leather coats.
